Mensa Testing
Hi, my name is Mindy and I’m a proctor for Mensa. I will be giving the Mensa Admissions Test on Saturday, July 26 at 10 am at UNR at the Ansari Business building room 201. (There’s a link to a UNR map below. Look for 063. Probably the easiest and closest parking is at the meters just east of 083.) This is the brick building in the middle of campus. If interested, let me know as soon as you can. The cost of the exam is $40. Please bring some form of ID with you. There are two exams, which should take about 2 hours to complete.

If English is not your first language, you're dyslexic, and/or you wish to take the culture-fair test battery, advance arrangements will need to be made for administration of this test at another time and date. In addition, if you've taken the American Mensa Standard Admissions Test before, you are not eligible to take it again. If you're a minor, let me know and I will email you the parental/guardian consent form, which will need to be signed. Bring it with you to the test session; without it, you will be unable to test. If you're under 14 years of age, please let me know before the test date, as a different test will be needed to qualify for membership.
Please bring a couple of pencils, with eraser, for filling in test answers; photo ID (i.e., driver's license, state-issued identification card); along with the $40 test fee (payable by check made out to American Mensa, Ltd.; cash; major credit card - Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express). Please let me know if you wish to take the American Mensa admissions test at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, 26 July 2008.

Beat the Heat by Richard Arbib
Saturday, July 19 Noon: Meet for lunch at Nikki's Chaat Cafe at 3469 south Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, next to Long's Drugs. If you are driving from Reno or Carson City, it will be on the right side of the street. Nikki's Chaat Cafe has both Indian and American food. Prices are reasonable and the food is always good. It's only a few minutes away from the ice-rink. 1:30-2 p.m. Meet at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Rink at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd,, South Lake Tahoe. From the restaurant, just keep driving west on South Lake Tahoe Blvd. for a few minutes. The street right before Rufus Allen Blvd. is Fremont Ave. There is a traffic light on Rufus Allen Blvd. and a left-turn lane so you can turn left. You drive several blocks along Rufus Allen Blvd. After passing the campground, you will see a sign for the ice rink on your right. Turn right into the parking lot. The South Lake Tahoe Ice Rink is an indoor ice rink. That means that the ice is good, but also that the rink is cold. Bring a sweater or a jacket. If you're wearing just a t-shirt for 95 degree Reno weather, you'll be in for a cool surprise when you get inside the rink. Optional additional activity: Since we'll probably be done skating by 4 p.m., an optional activity could be bicycling along the bike path for a short leisurely ride. If anyone has an interest in this, give me a call or just bring a bicycle. There are also bicycles for rent nearby. Contact: Richard Arbib (775)685-2600 for more information, but reservations are not necessary. Optional carpooling. Meet at Barnes & Noble Coffee Shop on South Virginia Street in Reno at 10:15 a.m. Leave for South Lake Tahoe at 10:30 a.m. |
