Events for July 2026
Here's what's happening in our group for July:
July 8: ExComm Meeting via Zoom, 6 p.m.
This month's meeting of the Northern Nevada Mensa Executive Committee will be held over Zoom on July 8th at 6 p.m. Details, including the meeting link and agenda, are in the newsletter.
July 11: Monthly Meeting & Dinner, 5 p.m.
Join us at P.F. Chang's Asian Restaurant, 5180 South Kietzke Lane — about one block south of South McCarran Blvd. An extensive menu with plenty of great choices.
Speaker: Joe Giampapa (pronounced "Gee-um-papa") is a self-empowerment speaker and workshop leader with a master's degree in interpersonal communications, sociology, and theatre. He has worked with at-risk youth, abused women, and drug rehabilitation programs. He's the author of three self-help books, taught from middle school through university, and held a private practice for ten years.
Prior to education, Joe was an entertainer throughout the Midwest and later in Europe, entertaining troops during the Vietnam era. He recently won the 2021 Gold Medal (First Place) in the national Veterans Entertainment Arts and Talent Contest as a stand-up comedian — out of over 2,000 entrants.
His talk centers on how individuals can reclaim their sense of power and effectiveness in the face of today's challenges. He'll make you laugh, make you think, and touch your heart.

July 14: Lunch Bunch, 11:30 a.m.
In the mood for Indian food? This month's Lunch Bunch heads to Lemon and Lime Indian Cuisine and Bar, inside the SureStay Plus Airport hotel at 1981 Terminal Way. Curries, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and more.

July 25: Games Day at Coffee N Comics in Sparks, 3–5 p.m.
1235 Baring Blvd. (cross street: Sparks Blvd.) — Note: this is the Sparks location. Do not go to the Reno one!
Coffee N Comics sells comics, board games, coffee drinks, and food. This month's game: It Was a Dark and Stormy Night — a literature and movies trivia game similar to Trivial Pursuit, but one that actually tests your knowledge rather than relying on the luck of the dice. Perfect for Mensa members.
